25 mars Its been awhile...Yup, yup, it has. So whats the latest? I GOT MY CAST OFF - YAY!
Oh yeah, 6 weeks ago I broke my left ankle while on a SCUBA diving trip - and yes I am over people asking how one breaks an ankle scuba diving! Look I wasn't actually diving at the time - I was hopping back into the boat and severely rolled my ankle, ok. I wanted to post pics of my original x-ray but the hospital still has it. So the pic below is my most recent x-ray, taken at 5 weeks, 6 days post-break.
So this is were I am at after nearly 6 weeks of wearing a fibreglass cast. Not happy as was fully expecting to have the cast off and be able to do the Riverdance or something. Ridiculous expectation, but thats what I was hoping. Anyway, my GP took one look and sent me down to see an orthapedic doctor (aka OS) down at the hospital. They said I got at least 4 more weeks healing to do. After that I can start looking at physio and rehab. In the mean time I still need to keep my ankle immobile, although downward pressure is ok. So I was sent to orthotics and got my super-funky walking boot. Check it out below.
Supa-sexy, huh? Anyway, the good thing is I can walk much easier in it, and its removable, so I can shower and sleep without it. V. happy about that. Also had a go a driving today too. Under the other half's close supervision of course...I couldn't believe it tho - I swear he thought I had forgotten how to drive!
But I am not going to get into that...back to my leg. Now with the cast off I can check out how much muscle wastage there has been - 3cms to be exact, thats lost circumference around the widest part of my calf. Not bad I think. Also, was expecting my leg to be supa-pasty coloured beneath the cast, but thankfully thats not the case. As you can see in the pic below, it looks fairly normal; skinny but normal.
The broken limb is the one with the band-aid on it - I can't believe it, I cut myself shaving that thing! I never cut myself shaving! Uh!
Moving on tho...other recent news includes, my transfer from a PhD to an MSc, which I now have like, 11 weeks to finish -
Ok, I better go work on this thesis thing now Commentaires (2)Pour ajouter un commentaire, connectez-vous avec votre identifiant Windows Live ID (si vous utilisez Messenger ou Xbox LIVE, vous avez un identifiant Windows Live ID).
